Obituary of Richard Terhune Stark

Please share a memory of Richard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Richard Terhune Stark, formerly of the Fox Hills section of Rockaway, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on June 7, 2020 at Bentley Commons At Paragon Village in Hackettstown. He had shared 92 years of unconditional love, hard work, dedication, and amazing memories with family and friends.

Born in Passaic, Richard has been a lifelong area resident. A proud Navy Veteran, he served our country in WWII. Being in the Navy allowed him to visit places such as China, Japan, Korea, and Hawaii. He was a member of the American Legion Post #0238. He retired at age 62 after many years of work at both Ciba Chemical, as the Senior Technician, and Crompton & Knowles, as the Laboratory Manager. In his spare time, he enjoyed collecting Rockwells and Stamps. He also shared a big love for model trains and was an avid Giants and Dodgers fan. Above all, Richard was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He will live on in the hearts and souls of all the lives he has touched.

He was predeceased by his son, Thomas, and his siblings, Betty, Donald and Robert. Left to keep his legacy alive is his wife, Eunice; his loving children, Richard Terhune Stark, Jr. and his wife Ann of Wharton, Barbara M. Stark-Vazzana and her husband Robert of Budd Lake, and Robert J. Stark of Budd Lake; his cherished grandchildren, Rachel, Rob, Ricky, Matt, Thomas, and Michael; and his adored great-granddaughter, Evelyn and great-grandson, Benjamin.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Richard’s memory to the charity of your choice. Please leave a condolence, light a candle, and share your favorite memory of Richard here to continue to celebrate the beautiful life he shared with us.
