Our condolences to the whole family. Uncle Ji’s life and legacy is inspiring and uplifting for us all. His tireless dedication to community service is exemplary. Back in the late 70’s when my brother Manjit went to study in Michigan, he always spoke so highly of his “uncle” Jaswant Singh. Your family was his new family away from home. That beautiful bond continued even though Manjit bhaji also departed 20 years ago. I feel the immensity of Uncle Ji’s loss for his family. His essence will forever guide you and his undying spirit will always watch over you.

I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Singh's death. I have always admired and respected your family. Mr. Singh was the librian at my high school in Ontonagon, MI and he was my neighbor on the ridge. I showed the Singh family what a sauna was. Amardeep do you remember. I loved the smell of your family cooking. You taught me how to like Indian food. You gave me a piece of the most beautiful silk for my wedding, I cherish it to this very day. Your family has my deepest sympathy and condolences.

I am falling short of words while trying to pen down my feeling for uncleji. His wisdom and perfection were beyond description but we as a family have always admired and will continue to admire him as our Guiding force. I remember, when it was the time we went through a terrible phase emotionally and financially, he was the one who guided and showed the path of discipline to my entire family. We have no doubt today that we survived all through our tough times because the Power of discipline and strength he taught us. During the time of extreme struggle for us as a family, it was his guidance and teachings that kept us going and it would have been very tough without his presence at that time. And even till his last breath, he was telling us to be strong and live our lives with complete dedication. I remember his last call to us a few days back and cannot get over the fact We wouldn’t hear him ever again!
An epitome of dedication and discipline - A Self made person - A Perfect Human!!
We are going to miss him terribly!
This is a Picture of him and my special one who survived all his roller coaster health rides with Uncleji’s limitless guidance and support!! This is one of our favourite pictures captured of the two of them who are not with us anymore. The picture is of Gagan’s wedding when he came all the way to be a part of our special day even in his not-so-good health. I cannot thank Amardeep enough to have arranged all his visits everytime and specially his last trip. Though both of them are not with us anymore but their memories are ever lasting!!
Wishing strength and love to the family!!

My first memory of your father was walking into your home and being embraced. He was sitting on the leather couch in your old home reading the paper. He looked up at me with warm eyes and a welcoming smile. It was the most simple of gestures but somehow it was everything. He’s the only man I have ever met that made you feel both at home and at ease with your thoughts from just a glance. With every visit, his hugs and brief conversations became something I looked forward too most. The way he looked at his family could melt ones heart. He was truly a living saint, a real life angel on earth. His kindness was a gift to know. To know him was to love him, to cherish him and all his endless knowledge. His giant heart and caring nature is carried on by you and Maya. There is so much of him in both of you. Even the way you three all snicker the same when complemented. They way you three love so deeply and endlessly. The way you love each other. May his memory live on in all of our hearts forever as his soul now finds peace.

Amar, my deepest sympathy on the passing of your Dad. I remember him as a gentle giant who loves his family, being of service to others and someone who has opened the world of imagination for many through his generous donation of books. Although gone in the physical, his spirit is eternal and will always be there to support and love you. xo

We are blessed to know Dr Sahib and family for 31 years. First meeting during fund raising for Sikh Studies Chair at Uni of Mich in 1989. After that became part of extended family. After seeing his dedication and passion to set up Libraries in rural Punjab, I was inspired to build library in my village in 2011. Because of involving with his movement, met lots of very good people. I used to talk to him once week. We are going to miss him a lot. He touched so many lives. We will carry on his work as long as we live.

I was blessed to share space with Dr. Singh once over dal a few years ago. I knew of him through his daughter, Amardeep- both through her many stories of him, which have taught me to be a more virtuous man myself, and through her spirit, which clearly embodies the love and power passed to children from a father. I did not have a father in my physical life, thus I received my fathering rather indirectly- through others. When people say that someone is “survived by” others in times of physical death and transition, in my faith, I am humbled to witness this with my own eyes through the passing of Dr Singh’s spirit from one form to many others. I felt similarly when we shared a meal, and he treated me with much patience and respect, with an educator’s devotion, as I ate dal and learned how to be a better man sitting next to him. His family and his legacy is a testament to what a man’s love can do in this world. Thank you for teaching me something I can give to my own children Dr Singh. You have given me something eternal as I follow my own path to an honorable life.

Have spent very less time with him, but whatever time I spent was memorable. I still remember when he drove us down to our native town "Banga". His personality spoke about discipline and although he was a true Sikh in all sense, he was clear on what religious practices are right and wrong. His companionship with his wife was beautiful till date.
I will miss you " Phuffadji" Or Jaswant Singh Uncle as referred to by everyone. May his soul rest in eternal peace. God bless the family
