A memory, how many memories of my beautiful, kind, loving, independent and giving older sister. There were eight siblings raised by Samuel and Louise in a truly loving home. My four older brothers; David was the eldest, then Sidney, Jerry, Charles, then Barbara who was the eldest daughter, me, Ada and then Ora Diane. Being the oldest girl in a family with eight children, Barbara had a lot of responsibilities for her younger sisters and I didn't really understand the nick name our family gave her, until I was much older. We thought she was mean, always bossing us around, telling us what to do, but she was laying the groundwork for her life, taking care and making sure we were safe and well taken care of. Barbara was Mom's biggest helper with house chores, taking care of us, making sure we were safe outside, helping with our school work and giving us special hugs, when we cried. Barbara with the beautiful deep dimples, always impeckably dressed and with four older brothers, who checked out every single suiter who came to our house to call on her. We had amateur hour, card games, monopoly, scrabble, charades and family gatherings that were just the best. When she married and had children, I loved when she needed a babysitter or just to be around her. I always admired her, wanted to be like her and when she was in high school, I in junior high, she left before me in the morning, I borrowed one of her favorite sweaters. When she got home and found out, I couldn't run fast enough, but after she calmed down, hugged me and said 'don't ever do that again, ask me first, but I still love you.' RIP big sis
