Marie A. Coveney died at home on Tuesday Nov. 11, 2002. Mrs. Coveney was 90 years old. She was born in Boston, MA and lived many years in Summit, NJ. The last 8 years Mrs. Coveney has lived in Florham Park, NJ.
Mrs. Coveney was a homemaker and known to her family as Nana . She was a member of the St. Teresas Parish in Summit; which sang for Pope John Paul II. She was a member of the Prayer Group of Holy Family Parish in Florham Park. She was a member of the Rosary Society. Mrs. Coveney was always seen in church with her stylish hats, she was known as both the angel lady as well as the pope lady. A member of the Murray Hill Studio Artists and a avid Irish Dancing groupie, and a Angel collector. Mrs. Coveney made and sent over 100,000 rosary beads all over the world. Mrs. Coveney loved gardening, was world traveler, a Gemologist. She belonged to the Morris County Museum Astrologers association.
Mrs. Coveney was predeceased by her husband the late William L. Coveney Sr. who died in 1984, and a predeceased son Robert J. Coveney in 2001. Mrs. Coveney is survived by her daughter Anne E. Sweetin of Florham Park, NJ, and sons William L. Jr. of Ventura, CA, Charles E., Francis M. of Houston, TX, Bernard J. of Virginia, Joseph G. Coveney of Madison, NJ. Also survived by 15 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Sisters, Jean C. Hamilton of Fl, and Sr. Mercedes McCarthy of Boston MA; brothers, Edward of Fl, Charles of CN, and Brian Mc Carthy of Ca.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial Liturgy of Christian burial service on Friday Nov 15, at 10:30AM at Holy Family Church Orchard Rd., Florham Park, NJ.
