James F. Dyer Jr. died at his home in Denville, NJ. He was 60 years old. Jim was born in 1942 in Orange, NJ and was raised in Chatham, NJ. H e was a resident of Denville, NJ for the last 35 years.
Jim was a graduate of Bayley Ellard High School class of 1959. Attended St. Michaels College, Winooski, Vermont, Class of 1963, received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. Jim received his MBA at Seton Hall University in 1966.
Jim s community service was extensive, Mayor of Denville 2 terms, from 1988- 1995. Town Council President and Town Council Member, Planning Board Member and Chairperson, Little League Coach and President, Cub Scout Leader, Co-Founder, Morris County High School Basketball Tournament, Member of Our Lady of the Lakes Knights of Columbus Council 3359 Denville, NJ, Denville PAL Olympics Co-Chairperson, Project Children, Friendly Sons of St. Patrick Morristown, NJ, Joey Bella Fund Lip Synch Participant, ST. Clares Harvest Festival Chairperson and volunteer, Morris Catholic Education Advisory Board, St. Marys CYO President, and Loyola Retreat House, Morristown, NJ.
Jim was employeed by Dyer Insulation, Rockaway, NJ since 1965 and became President in 1971. He received the P.R.I.D.E. Council Citizen of the Year award, the Ettore Minervino Award, and the Bayley Ellard Hall of Fame.
The family will gather at Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave., Denville, NJ (973)-627-1880 on Thursday at 8:30AM for a 10:00 AM Liturgy of Christian Burial Service at St. Catherine of Siena Church Mountain Lakes, NJ. Followed by committal service at Denville Cemetery. Friends will be received Tuesday and Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9PM.
