Thomas J. Caffrey died on Sunday at the St. Clares Hospital Denville, NJ. He was 80 years old.
Mr. Caffrey was born in Scranton, Pa and moved to Denville, NJ in 1958.
Mr. Caffrey was employeed at the Morristown Daily Record from 1972 until his retirement in 1988.Mr. Caffrey was a member of the New Jersey Mailers Local 1100, International Brotherhood of Teamsters of America.
Mr. Caffrey was WW II US Army Air Corp Veteran. A member and Past Commander of the American Legion Post 390 Denville, NJ and Disabled American Veterans Chapter 63 Dover, NJ. He was a Past President of the Rock Den Memorial Association. He was a Chef de Gare Passe of the Forty and Eight (40/8) Voiture 228.
Mr. Caffrey was a member of St. Marys Church and Ushers. Tom was a Member of the Denville Senior Citizens Group and received the Citizen of the Years (1996) award from the Denville Rotary Club.
Mr. Caffrey is survived by his wife of 22 years Anne (nee Harding) Caffrey, father of Thomas J. Jr. of San Luis Obispo, CA, Kenneth, Thomas, Ralph Hopler all of Boonville, NY, Elaine Struble of Hudson, Fl, Lora Verducci of Denville, NJ, Mary Silverman of Hackettstown, NJ, Margaret Caffrey of Tujunga, CA, Blanche Riebel of Hopatcong, NJ, Linda Humphries of Denville, NJ, and Victoria Hopler of Rome, NY. Also survived by 14 Grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Brother of Alma Giles of Binghamton, NY, Mary Watson of Swarthmore, PA, Rose Evans of Scranton, PA, Eleanor Gregory of Maple Shade, NJ, and George Caffrey of West Salem, WI.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Norman Dean Home for Services on Thursday at 9:00AM for a 10:0AM Liturgy of Christian Burial service at St. Marys Church Denville, NJ Interment Denville Cemetery.
