My thoughts and prayers are with you all. John will be greatly missed. I have a lot of fond memories of and with John, but the one that always stands out in my mind is the time we went to see billy joel/elton john, we were on the way home and stopped at wendys, they were closing or should I say closed and John kept trying to get the guy to serve us.

Although I only knew Mr. Meckert for a year and a half, I will remember him as a loving father and family man, who would have done anything for his daughters. I will also remember him for his honesty, humor, and strength. He was a good guy.

John was a wonderful warm person. I remember John always being the even Keel of any gathering, and always a true pleasure to talk with. I wish I would have had the chance to get to know John better and maybe enjoy a fishing trip with him. I am sure it would have been a great time. The memories of camping at the Outer Banks, Lake George etc. will last a lifetime. A good argument and a cold beer await you at the end of your journey. We hope when you get there they "have the sh%t house mess cleaned up" We'll miss you!

I believe this is the same family I remember but not totally sure so please forgive me if I’m wrong and accept my condolence for your loss.
If John’s wife had the nick name Birdie and worked as a nurse at Westinghouse elevator. If this is so you both came to my wedding in 1989, it’s been a long time and I pray that the Lord will send the comforter down to ease some of the grieving that you all are experiencing. May the Lord be before you, behind you and his hand upon your lives please accept my family’s condolence and deepest sympathy on your loss.
