Carolyn Ann Letsche (Ognek) at the age of 61 passed away unexpectedly in her home on Monday, December 3, 2012. She was born in Passaic, NJ, but resided with her family in Clifton for her formative years. As a younger woman she moved to Rutherford for a few years and then after getting married she had lived in Denville for the past 28 years. She married Bob on November 3, 1985 and was a proud stepmother to her daughter Maggie. Their family grew in 2002, when she extended her love by adopting her two sons, Michael and Raymond. Carolyn's influence, guidance and support have helped them to thrive and become very unique and caring individuals. Carolyn started her career in the insurance field and achieved great success in a mainly male dominated industry for over 25 years. She then continued her education and held a Masters degree in student counseling, which led to her second career of being a teacher. She was a great influence on many of her students at Orange High School and worked there for most of her career before retiring in 2011. She was a very spiritual person with many strong beliefs and became an elder in the Union Hill Presbyterian Church of Denville. Her life was filled with family and many friends over the years. Some friendships that lasted a lifetime. She touched many lives with her wisdom, humor and love. She was affectionally known as the “captain of the land of misfit toys” or “Mama Dukes”. She had a great love for animals, children in need and anyone who needed a big sister or mother figure. She lived her life with great intentions and will be missed by all. She was predeceased by her husband Robert D. Letsche in December 11, 2002. Carolyn is survived by her children Maggie, Michael and Raymond Letsche. Her parents Albert and Loyola Ognek, her siblings, David, Donald, Susan, Mary Ellen, and Robert Ognek. As well as many nieces; Ryan, Kellie, Jackie, Casey and Danielle. Her nephews; Christopher and Ellie, Michael and Jen, Lee, Bobby, Eric and Gregg. In addition to her cousins, Les and Diana, Megan and Glen, Tim and Petey Jo, Tim, John and many, many more. Including her beloved pets, Tootsie an Princess.
