Very fond of Joan, if this is the same Joan Blair I knew in Big Pine Key, Florida, before she moved to such a strange and unattractive location in New Jersey after her lovely location in Big Pine Key. I will always treasure her lauggter and sense of humor. I have no idea how she died. Can anyone tell me? Anita Whitney, agrouper@msn.com

I remember Joan for her optimism and courage. And her love of holidays..especially Christmas. In honor of the season and her spirit of hope, it is fitting to remember the true source of hope, Jesus Christ and Him crucified. God bless all who read this and remember.

Joan & I were next door neighbors 2x in our UNM days. Once in a small mountain town & then in the ABQ "student ghetto". I could, literally, write a book & I'll tell stories ad infinitum, but one of many remarkable things that always fascinated me was that Joan never got into arguments w/o humor. Probably because she always had a better idea! She was noble and loyal & lucid. We "got" each other! I've missed her for years already, but knowing she's gone makes me feel happy for her, but a gaping loss for the rest of us. Thanks, Joan, Hasta Luego!

Whenever I had a question, Joan had an answer. Whenever I was confused, Joan made it clear. Whenever I was upset, Joan made it better. Thank you for enriching my life, and sharing your knowledge and experience with me.

I want to add to my previous remarks by saying that I will miss Joan tremendously. Her spirit, smile, jokes and good cheer will remain for me a fond memory. She has truly left her positive mark on the world, which was a goal for many of our generation. Joan, I love you always and thank you for being my friend and confidante over these years.

I first met Joan in our junior year of high school. She was a fun east-coast gal with a fondness for the British rock bands of the time and definitely more 'with it' than the normal crowd in our small midwestern town. We happened to live in the same cities at various times in our lives - Kalamazoo, Michigan, where we went to college, and Albuquerque, New Mexico, where many of our mutual friends had moved. We had many talks over the years about food and nutrition, as well as so many other topics. As people have expressed, she was indeed a walking encyclopedia, having amassed an immense amount of knowledge by being a voracious reader. I will remember her smile, laugh and sense of humor, as well as her ability to provide a unique viewpoint and a rational logic to other issues. I thought of Joan with a smile as I preoccupied my mind last night by reorganizing my pantry - a fitting tribute to our friend the nutritionist. I am so glad she finally was able to find a job teaching nutrition to countless mothers and children. She had spoken so frequently over the years about that desire. I think she's cooking up a most delicious meal right now in heaven!

A freer spirit than Joan I will probably never know. Always positive, upbeat and humble she was forever ready to help anyone in any situation with little regard for her own personal challenges. I know because she was a good friend to my father for many years and during some of his lonely days. There are very few people I've met that truly carried these traits with them through every day of their life. And I can just see her now looking down at us all with that perpetual smile and wondering when we're going to come and visit.
I hope we get to spend more time together when my time comes than we were able to on this earth.

The last conversation I had with Joan stands out in my mind. She said, "I choose joy. No matter what this Life stuff brings, I choose joy..." And that's excactly how I will remember her. She was a brilliant woman, and I did learn a lot from her.

To Carol, Kathy and Family, Joan will be missed. She was very brave and seemed so strong never complained. I will miss the stories of her cat PieWhackin. She always had a funny story to tell. She was very smart and witty. One day we went for a visit an although she was not feeling well, she read a book to us, I'd always hoped we'd get back to that book. May God bring you all the comfort and peace through this tough time.

I have such fond memories of Joan, starting ~20 years ago when she was working at Sandy's Health Food Store in Bowie, MD, to the time she spent living in Key West and the many gatherings with her sisters, Kathy and Carol. The three of them together were so much fun! As an "only child", I was a bit envious of the wonderful bond they shared. Joan was a vibrant, knowledgeable, fun, and caring person. She will be missed, but her spirit will live on.......

Like others have said before me, Joan was truly a special soul! I've never meet anyone with such an incredble attitude and disposition in my life. She absolutely did bring an amazing energy into every room she entered! Her bravery and spunk will be the memories of Joan that I will have whenever I think of her. Carol, you are a great sister and Joan would be the first to say how blessed she was to have you! God Bless <3

although we never got to know Joan well, the 1st memory of her was making mashed potatoes, for a holiday dinner....WITH THE SKINS. They actually were very delicious (and i was TOLD, more nutritious/all the vitamins are in the skin). Although we won't be able to attend the service, our heart felt thoughts & prayers go out to Carol & John, and the entire Blair family at this time of loss. Our sincere condolences, Tom & Keith

My earliest memory of Joan was when I was about 5 years of age. She came into my room once with a book that had lots of pictures of prehistoric animals, showing me one in particular called an "erops". It ignited a huge interest in animals and nature esp. dinosaurs. Their was another time later when we went exploring Twin Ponds and the surrounding area...their was this old barn with lots of farm tools and equipment. On the wall next to a pitchfork were these buck antlers which I wound up taking with us when we went back home. I remember Joan saying that I shouldn't have taken them. I said I'll just tell Mom and Dad we found them in the woods, and I said please don't tell them they came from the barn. Joan never told them and kept her word, never revealing where they really came from. Another memory was a dream I had of Joan staying in the attic all by herself, and these "doos" (scary things I dream't about in nightmares) were all around coming out from behind furniture and other objects like stacked boxes in the attic. I became very scared, until Joan said, "don't worry, these are friendly doos!" Then suddenly, somehow, they looked less menacing and had a friendly look. I woke up refreshed. Most my memories of Joan go way back to childhood because those were the most impressionable years. I'll miss her greatly esp. for the many memories. Rest in Peace till the the Good Lord comes, Joan....

Joan was a great person and friend. I'll miss our little chats about random things she knew, she really was a walking encyclopedia. But beyond her knowledge she had a big heart, I'm very grateful to have had the pleasure of getting to know her.

Joan was a welcome burst of fresh air when she arrived as a coworker. She made me laugh. She made me think. And she made me happy to be around her. Her spirit was joyous and positive. If I said, "Feel better." She said, "I will.".... everytime. She is an amazing friend I love a lot and will miss our times together.
