Arthur A. Smedberg, Jr., 85 died Tuesday in the Community Medical Center, Toms River, NJ.
Born in Kearny, NJ, he was the son of the late Arthur A. and the late Mabel (Nelson) Smedberg. He resided in Toms River for the past twenty-two years and prior to that he was a resident of Rockaway NJ.
He was a Project Leader, employed by ITT Avionics, Clifton NJ for forty-two years retiring in 1983.
Art was a baseball coach for the Rockaway Junior baseball league for six years; he also was an avid NY Met's and Giants fan along with Seton Hall University baseball. His true enjoyment was his love for the beach.
Surviving is his wife of fifty-two years Mary Peggy (nee Fedorchak) Smedberg, daughter: Carol Beckwith of Washington State, daughter & son in-law, Debra & Hugo Aiuto of Rockaway Borough, NJ; son & daughter in-law, Arthur A. III & Suzanne Smedberg of Rockaway Borough, NJ;
Grandchildren Cindi Himple, Richard Beckwith, James Vazquez, Caroline Aiuto and Matthew & Alyson Smedberg; Great Grandchildren, Matthew, Jonathon, & Sarah Himple; brothers, Roy, Robert, & Kenneth Smedberg
Art was predeceased by his brother, Eugene Smedberg, sister, Doris Linkston, grandson, David Aiuto
A mass of Christian burial will held on Saturday October 20, 2007 at 11:00am at St. Cecilias Church in Rockaway. Visitation will be held on Friday October 19, 2007 from 2-4pm & 7-9pm at the Norman Dean Home For Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville NJ 07834.
