It is with great sadness that I extend my deepest sympathy to the entire Egan Family. As one of my son Ronald’s best friends, Jim was my "second" son. I shared with Jim the joy of his teenage years onto his marriage to Rosemarie and then the birth of their children. I will always cherish the memories of the years we’ve known each other and how Jim was always there for me. Every Christmas, for over 30 years, I reflect on the year Jim and Rosemarie came to my rescue. Whether it was just to string lights on my Christmas tree or his commitment to help my other children, the Cystic Fibrosis children in New Jersey, I could count on him. He was such an intricate part of my life – from the family gatherings, to the CF events such as dinner shows, Macy’s affairs, award dinners and Cystic Fibrosis Golf Tournament. It was an honor to have known and loved Jim for more than 45 years. With all my love - "E"

to my "big brother" - sure did enjoy the golf, parties, laughs, getting Crystal built (well, almost!!), watching our kids grow, and the list goes on, as it does for all of us who had the pleasure. Jim, the candles are growing, appropriately illuminating all of us with your usual good fellowship, friendship and cheer. Scope out the good courses for the rest of us, who one day will join you to tee it up once again. You leave a great legacy w Martin, John, Jimmy, and Teresa....you're proud of them all, as well you should be. And Rose, no one better. Rose,John,Marty,Theresa,Jimmy,
We feel your sorrow so deeply. Jim will forever live on in our thoughts. He was a man of substance.
He made an impact on people and in life. An impact made first through his mere presence. Enter a room and he would not go unnoticed - tall, good looking, outgoing and personable.
His basketball talents were applied both on and off the court...swift, energetic, determined, focused, a winning outlook and a can do attitude.
Let's play ball (of all sizes) - from basketball to softball to golf. He handled each sport with the same eagerness and proficiency.
God had a plan for Jim to live and enjoy life, work hard and do well. He helped many others and touched many souls through his devotion to Cystic Fibrosis. His earthly deeds are immeasurable. The people who knew Jim through all walks of life and called him friend were blessed by having shared a part of their life with him.
Above all else, Jim's family came first in his life. It was evident to everyone that he took great pride in his loving family incluing Julia, Colette and Seif. He will always remain a part of who you are.
O Sweet Jesus,
I desire neither life, nor death,
but Your most holy will.
You are the One, O Lord, that I long for.
If it be Your holy will to have me die, receive my soul;
and grant that in You and with You,
I may receive everlasting rest.
It if be Your holy will to have me live longer upon this earth,
give me the grace to amend the rest of my life,
and with good works to glorify Your Holy Name.
Amen.

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal. My time with Jim was short ('99) but I considered him a good friend. I played with him when he was at his best (his Club Championship win over Jeff Jackson) when he won, he won with class and when he lost, he displayed a genuine appreciation for the talent that it took to beat him. I will miss him for as long as I live.

As an original Crystal Springs golf member like Jim, I knew Jim for the past 16 years. He was a great golfer, but he was a better human being. Last year, we had our first baby, and learned that she had an abnormal score for Cystic Fibrosis after birth. Jim learned of this news through others in the golf league and didn't hesitate to call me at work one day to explain the Cystic Fibrosis test, what the score meant, and what we could do to have further testing. He was very calming and reassuring to us during a very stressful time. Luckily, our daughter does not have CF, but we will never forget Jim's friendship and proactive approach for wanting to help others in need. As a golfer, Jim was the only person I knew who could drive an hour, get out of the car 90 seconds before his tee time, walk over to the 1st tee and crush a 280-yard drive down the middle of the fairway without even stretching or warming up. He was one of a kind and we will miss him dearly.

Jimmy Egan
MY BEST FRIEND
Jimmy and I grew up in the same town, in the same neighborhood, we even worked in the same wire plant, yet we never met. It wasn't until many years later we met on the golf course. Jimmy was the tallest golfer I had ever seen. We became friends that same day. I decided to change his name to "The Giant." He in turn called me the "Little Mexican." I didn't mind even though I am not Mexican. Well, the name stuck. We became best friends. We argued about everything. I remember from the first hole to the eighteenth hole, non-stop busting with Jimmy. Our friends threathened not to play in our group, but we didn't care. They were the best times I ever had playing golf. Jimmy was a friend to everyone and we all love him. I rarely saw Jimmy get mad. But there was one time in particular, was when I lost a cart match to him, and I tried to pay him in Mexican pesos. I will always remember our friendship. I will never forget the "Gentle Giant," with a heart as big as the whole outdoors. I loved him like a brother.
To Jimmy my best friend and brother, I will miss you.
Our thoughts and prayers are with your family at this time.

Glenn got involved with the Cystic Fibrosis tournament a while ago and talked about Jim Egan so much I couldn't wait to meet him. When I did, I found out that Jim was from Paterson, N.J. We then were surprised to find out that we both went to the same high school-Eastside H.S.- and a instant bond was formed. Of course, I liked to tell people that Jim graduated 20 years before me-actually it was only 3 years. Jim would just smile and say "right' !!!!!
