Colin Jack Homer, of Zephyrhills, Fla. formally of Denville, NJ. Passed away on Sunday June 10, 2007 at his home at the age of 85.
Jack was born in East Orange, NJ and moved as a boy to Denville where he resided until moving to Zephyrhills more than twenty-five years ago.
He attended Denville Schools and had graduated from Mt. Lakes High School.
He had served in the US Navy as a radioman during WWII.
He was employed by NJ Bell Telephone Laboratories in Whippany, NJ for thirty-three years retiring in 1980, and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers.
He was a member of St. Johns Masonic Lodge #1, F. & A.M. in Mt. Lakes, NJ and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Jack was a charter member of the Denville American Legion Post #390. He was an active member of the Denville Community United Methodist Church, and sang in the choirs since childhood and up until moving to Florida.
Upon moving to Florida he was a member of the First Church of Zephyrhills and the Trinity United Methodist Church of the Wesley Chapel. He sang in both churches choirs. He also sang with the Harmony Hills Barber Shop Chorus, and with the Solid Gold Barber Shop Quartet.
Jack enjoyed singing and playing the organ as well as camping and was a member of the Good Sams Camping Club in Florida.
He was predeceased by his wife of 59 years Kathleen Kay I. Homer who died January 28, 2004. as well as two granddaughters and his brother Ronald E. Homer.
He is survived by his two daughters and their husbands, Colleen and Michael Holinko and Lynda and Raymond Gronemann both of Denville. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter, as well as several nieces and nephews and many other loving relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Monday June 18, 2007 at 10:00 AM at the Denville Community Unity Methodist Church Diamond Spring Road Denville, NJ. Burial will take place in Restland Memorial Park in East Hanover, NJ.
Donations are being accepted to Hospice of Dade City, 37441 Clinton Avenue Dade City, Fla 33525, where Jack worked most recently as a volunteer.
