Please share a memory of Margaret to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Margaret Miller, better known as Peggy to all her friends and family, passed away with a smile on her face early in the morning of June 7. 2007 at Bridgeway Care Center in Bridgewater, NJ.
Peggy was born on March 3, 1922 in Charleston, Mass. And grew up in nearby Somerville. As a child she grew up through the roaring 20s and the great depression. She graduated Somerville High School in 1939 and worked for John Hancock in Boston.
Peggy Miler was a proud first generation Irish-American born of immigrant parents who came to Ellis Island after the war to end all wars, i.e., WWI. On December 8, 1941 like thousands of other unheralded American women she joined the service and became a WAC in the Army Air Corp. She served as the secretary to the Flight Surgeon and as fate would have it is how she met her future husband Charlie Miller. Charlie you see was involved in an air crash during flight training school and came into the office for treatment. They fell in love and got married in 1946 after leaving the service and moved to Jersey City.
In 1957 Peggy and Charlie moved to Carteret to raise their three sons, Kevin, Dennis, and Danny and later their baby girl Holly Noel. After raising four young children Peggy worked at Royal Foods in Carteret for several years to her retirement in 1987. Peggy and Charlie moved to Greenbriar Woodlands in Toms River, NJ where Peggy enjoyed her golden years. Charlie passed away in 2004.
A lifelong avid Boston Red Sox fan she waited her whole life to be able to say, The Red Sox won the world series! When told recently by her children that the Red Sox were in first place she indeed passed away with a great smile on her face.
Peggy outlived her brothers, John, Robert and her two dear sisters, Mary and Betty. She is survived be her children Kevin (Boston), Dennis (Denville), Danny (Scottsdale, AZ), and Holly Berke (Madison, CT), and her grandchildren David, Doug, Chandler, and Trevor.
