Richard O. Bright Rit
Rit was a graduate of Brooklyn Technical High School and Stevens Institute of Technology attaining a BSME and Professional Engineers License.
Rit married his Green Pond sweetheart Lois in 1946.
He served in both WWII and the Korean War as an Infantry 1st lieutenant and was awarded the Silver Star and Purple Heart.
A life long resident of Green Pond, Rit led and supported the Rinky Dinks, Sub Debs, and Community Club. He served many years on the board of directors and taught Sunday school though out the summers.
Rit retired after 39 years of service starting with NJ Power & Light Co, who then became General Public Utilities (GPU).
His wife, 3 children and 3 grandchildren survive him.
A private family service is planned.
Remembrances can be donated to the Green Pond Chapel Memorial Fund or the Green Pond First Aid Squad.
