Rose Kushner (Kalincsak) passed away at Merry Heart Nursing Home in Boonton Twp. on Sunday December 17, 2006. She was 87 years old. Born in Brownsville, PA, she was raised in Clifton and resided in Pompton Lakes before moving to Toms River and Succasunna, NJ. After having worked as an administrative assistant at Shulton, Inc, she graduated summa cum laude from William Paterson College in 1968. She was the first woman from William Paterson to receive a Danforth Fellowship for Graduate Studies. After receiving her Masters in English, she was a dedicated English teacher at Parsippany Hills High School from 1969 to 1984. She was a three-time winner of the Emily Greenway writing contest and had an article published in the Library Journal. At age 80 she became a NJ District Certified Lay Minister in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. She taught Sunday school, served on many church committees and participated in Bible Studies, most recently as a member of King of Kings Lutheran Church. Her beloved daughters, Ellen Kushner, and Karen Rembisz, died previously, as did her siblings: Anna Hagan, Julia Bendixen, Irene McKenna, and four brothers, Michael, Joseph, John, and Jimmy Kalincsak and cousins in Bakonyscerny, Hungary. Survivors include her beloved husband of 66 years, George Kushner; her daughter and son-in-law Linda and Craig Clark of Denville, and her grandchildren Katherine and Rachel; her son in-law Stanley Rembisz of VA; her grandchildren Stanley and Tracey Rembisz and Kristi and John Brandom of VA; and her great-grandchildren Jacob, Matthew, Samuel, Johnny, Karli and Katie, and nieces and nephews. Interment at Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Clifton. Friends may visit on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9PM. In lieu of flowers donations to King of Kings Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or the NJ Foundation for the Blind.
