Marion Rose Quirolo (nee Schussler) died peacefully on Monday, September 22, 2014 at Adler Hospice in Aldie, Virginia. Marion would have celebrated her 92nd birthday on September 27, 2014. She was a "Jersey" girl up until two years ago when she moved to Ashby Ponds in Ashburn, Virginia. Marion graduated from Bogota High School in 1940. She married her high school sweetheart, Gerry, in 1946 when he came home after serving in the Navy during World War II. They were married 68 years on January 27, 2014. Following her marriage Marion worked as a secretary, commuting to New York City. They settled happily in Paramus where they lived for many years, raising two daughters. She was actively involved in the Paramus Congregational Church where she formed many life-long friendships. Marion later returned to the workforce at Stern Bros. Department Store in Paramus for many years. She was responsible for the custom bedspread and drapery department. It was a career that fostered a long-time love of shopping as a hobby. Among her many interests were playing bridge, dominoes and golf. Marion especially enjoyed sitting on the beach and watching sunsets with friends and family at Green Pond, the Jersey shore, Florida and cruises to many locales. In 1990, Marion and Gerry retired to Green Pond and enjoyed summers there and winters in Bradenton, Florida. In Green Pond she was a long-time member of the Women's Club, Chapel Club and Yacht Club. In addition to her two daughters, Gail Boertzel (married to Ken) of Green Pond, New Jersey and Nancy Lentine (married to Joe) of South Riding, Virginia, Marion had three grandchildren: Michael Lentine (married to Mary) of Leesburg, Virginia; Todd Boertzel (engaged to Karla Stockmeyer) of New York City and Allyson Boertzel of Boston, Massachusetts. During the two years she lived in Virginia, Marion loved spending fun time with her two great-grandsons, Peyton and Henry Lentine. Family and friends are invited for visiting at the Norman Dean Funeral Home, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville, New Jersey on Friday, September 26, 2014 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm.
