Helen E. Lucas (nee Cinnamond), passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side, on Sunday, August 3rd. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 8th at 10 am at St. Cecilia's RC Church, Church St., Rockaway. Interment to follow in St. Cecilia's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, August 7th from 3-7 pm at the Norman Dean Home For Services, 16 Righter Ave., Denville. Donations in her memory may be made to St. Cecilia's Church. Helen was born in Maspeth, NY and has lived in Rockaway, NJ since 1962. In 1946, she met Albert Lucas, a young Navy officer. The couple married the following year and started their family. Helen was a proud and devoted Navy wife. She was a longtime member of St. Cecilia's Parish, alto in the church choir for over 45 years and St. Cecilia's Seniors, she served as a "Grand-friend" at St. Cecilia's School, an active member of the Rockaway Township Seniors (South) and the "Crafters", and yearly, would arrange lunches for volunteer income tax preparers. She was also a member of the St. Monica Guild. When she wasn't donating her time to her community, Helen was an avid bowler, with an awesome "back up" ball; a skilled gardener and crocheter; and a wonderful homemaker, mother and friend.
Predeceased by her husband Albert of 59 years; she is survived by her daughters Lee Ann Mackin and her husband Marty and Arlene Martin and her husband Jack; her granddaughters Kelly Schmeichel (Jason) and Lindsay Heinrich (Michael); two great granddaughters; many nieces and nephews including Rose Ann Lucas-Streznetcky and family and Edward Lucas and family; and many dear friends.
