Theresa Rose Ebersole, (nee Portinause), 77, of Rockaway Township, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 6th. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 10th at 10 am at St. Cecelia's Church, Rockaway, NJ. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, June 9th from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Norman Dean Home For Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville. To light a candle, please go to www.normandean.com
Theresa was born and raised in Hoboken, NJ. She moved to Rockaway in 1972, where she has lived ever since. She co-owned businesses with her husband Charles and was an elementary school crossing guard. She also served as a police matron for the Rockaway Township Police Dept. for many years and was a wonderful homemaker.
Theresa was a longtime member of St. Cecelia's Church, and of The Order of the Eastern Star. She was an avid bingo player, gardener, and a wonderful cook. Above all, she loved spending time with her family.
Predeceased by her dear husband Charles and her loving son Anthony; she is survived by her daughters Mary Ann Ebersole and Cynthia Cusack (John); grandchildren Charles and Elizabeth Cusack and Heather-Ann Boyd(David), great grandson David Anthony Boyd; brother Alexander "Sonny" Portinause (Melba), sister Angela Compitello (Rocco); and many loving nieces and nephews.
