Charles F. Eisenhardt, 90, of Denville, NJ, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2014 surrounded by his family.
C.F. Eisenhardt was born December 25, 1923 in his grandparent's house in Hoboken to Frederick and Florence Eisenhardt and grew up in Long Island, NY, Queens, NY, and Hoboken, NJ and lived his last 52 years in Denville. He graduated from Xavier High School in 1941 and Stevens Institute of Technology in 1945, where he earned a master's degree in Mechanical Engineering. He entered the V-12 Navy College Training Program and attended Midshipmen's School, but contracted meningitis and was Honorably Discharged.
Charles was employed at Western Electric and Austenal Laboratories as a Mechanical Engineer, before joining Picatinny Arsenal in Rockaway, NJ where he retired as a Division Chief after 28 years.
He is survived by his wife Ruth of 58 years, his five children and their spouses, Gay Eisenhardt and John Weagley, Mark Eisenhardt, Peter Eisenhardt, Wendy and Darren Somerville, Scott and Judy Eisenhardt and eight grandchildren, Adam, Hayley, Kristen, Max, Maya, April, Oliver, and Malcolm.
In his youth, he enjoyed tennis, skiing, sailing, and dude ranches.
His funeral will be conducted from Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave., Denville, NJ www.normandean.com , 973-627-1880, (please share a memory of Charles on website), on Wednesday April 2nd at 9am for a 10 am Mass of Christian Burial service at St. Mary's Church Denville, NJ, interment services at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ. Relatives and friends will be received on Tuesday April 1st at the funeral home from 2-4 and 7-9pm. In lieu of flowers , donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
