Obituary of Roger Bowers

Roger Bowers, of Rockaway, New Jersey, passed away at Care One of Hanover on March 16, 2014 at the age of 69 after a long illness. Born and raised in Staten Island, New York ,Roger graduated from Tottenville High School in 1962 and from Pace University in 1971 with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. Roger worked for the Benefits and Pensions Department for Mobil Oil Corporation until 1988.
Roger married the former Mary L. Swartz on February 5, 1966. The couple raised their 4 children on Staten Island until moving to Lake Mohawk, Sparta, New Jersey in 1976. It was there Roger was active with the Lake Mohawk Ski Hawks and the Lake Mohawk Powerboat Club.
Roger and his wife Mary Lou moved to Fox Hills Active Adult Community in Rockaway New Jersey in July 2013.
Prior to his illness, Roger and Mary Lou enjoyed taking vacations, especially cruises to the Caribbean. Most importantly Roger loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Roger is pre-deceased by his father, George Bowers and his 2 brothers Robert and Kenneth.
Roger is survived by his wife Mary Lou Swartz, and his children and their families, his daughter, Donna McAlister and her husband Norman, his son, Roger Bowers Jr. and his wife Fawn, his daughter Kerri Bowers Wood, and his son Alan Bowers and his wife Tracy, and his 8 grandchildren, Brianna, Connor, Sean, Brendan, Kaitlyn, Kayla, Sydney, and Zachary, and his mother, Ann Babich Bowers, and his brother, George Bowers and his wife Margaret Ann, and his sister, Carol Bowers Bickler and her husband Vincent, and by several nieces and nephews, and his sister-in-law, Susan Swartz.
Relatives and friends will be received on Thursday March 20th from 2-4pm at Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Avenue Denville, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Diabetes Association, www.diabetes.org/Donate or the Autism Speaks, www.autismspeaks.org.
