Obituary of Janice R. Owens

 

Janice Rourke Owens passed away peacefully on Friday, June 29, 2018 at Morristown Medical Center. She was 76 years young.

 

She was born in Worcester, Massachusetts, grew up in Connecticut and lived in Denville, NJ for the last 32 years. She graduated from the University of Connecticut Magna Cum Laude and was selected to Phi Beta Kappa Academic Honor Society. She received a Master’s Degree from Columbia University Teachers College. She traveled the globe while working for Pan American Airways in flight service and public relations departments. She taught American History at Paul VI Regional High school in Clifton, NJ. Her charitable, volunteer and community actives included services as the President of the Morris County Council of PTAs and Member of the State PTA Board;  member of the Denville Environmental Commission; tutor for the Literacy Volunteers of America; and President of the Indian Lake Women’s Club. She was a devoted wife and caring mother and will forever be remembered.

 

She leaves only joyful memories to her beloved husband of 46 years, Frank; her loving son, Arthur and his wife Katie; her new cherished granddaughter, Keavy; and her caring brother Robert of NC.  

 

Public Visitation will be held on Monday, July 2^nd from 4 – 8 pm at  Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Ave., Denville.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 3^rd at 10 am St. Catherine of Siena RC Church, 10 Pocono Rd., Mountain Lakes, NJ. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. Memorial Donations are being accepted to the Moms Helping Moms Foundation by way of www.inmemoryof-memorial.org.
