Obituary of Gerd Marion Pedersen

Gerd M. Pedersen passed away at the Merry Heart Nursing Home in Boonton Township, NJ on February 23, 2014. She was 84 years old. Gerd was born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Karl and Synnove Jensen. She attended Fort Hamilton High School and the Barbizon Modeling School. She danced with the Norwegian Folk Dance Society with music by The Walter Eriksson Orchestra. She moved to the Marcella section of Rockaway Township after marrying the late Harris Pedersen in 1953. She was a member of the Marcella Community Club where she volunteered for many years helping produce the Marcella Mountaineer Newsletter. She was a trustee of the Marcella Union Cemetery for over 30 years. She was a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts, and helped with fundraiser events for The Holy Trinity Lutheran Church where she was an active member of W.E.L.C.A. and The Marcella Fire Company Auxiliary. She organized the Rockaway Township Senior Citizen Club – Northern District. Surviving are her two children Joy Pedersen, and Gary Pedersen and his wife Maria, and three grandchildren, Eric and his wife Katie, Kurt and Sonja, her sister-in-law Edda Pedersen and nieces Ellen Gannon, Karen Ivins and Susan Santos. All services are private.
