Obituary of Eugene J. LoIacono
Eugene J. LoIacono, of East Stroudsburg, formerly of Lodi, NJ, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family in Lake Hopatcong on Monday, May 15, 2017. He was 84 years young.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY to the late Joseph and Rose LoIacono, Eugene settled down in Lodi, NJ in 1955 with his wife, the late Catherine, to raise their family. A proud veteran of the United States Army, he served in the Korean War in the 82nd Airborne Unit. Eugene enjoyed woodworking projects. He worked for over 40 years at Bridge Casket Company in Lodi, which was bought by Batesville Casket Company. Eugene also loved bowling and taking long rides on his motorcycle. He relished traveling, as long as his motorcycle could take him where he needed to go. Above anything else, family was his number one priority. He was a phenomenal son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. Eugene has left us with a legacy of compassion, hard work, and laughter that will live on in our hearts and souls for an eternity.
Predeceased by his beloved wife Catherine, treasured son Joey LoIacono, and sister, Marie McDermott, left to continue his legacy are his loving children, Jean Pump-Zajaczkowski and her husband Thomas Zajaczkowski of Fair Lawn, Louis LoIacono and his wife Sandra of Jefferson Twp., Denise Cintorrino and her husband Carmine of Rahway, Eugene “Gino” LoIacono and his wife Patricia of Denville, and Lisa Fila of Jefferson Twp.; his cherished grandchildren, Tara Scimeca and her husband Tony, Donald Pump and his wife Amanda, Lynnsy Zajaczkowski, Joseph LoIacono, Janice LoIacono, Jackie LoIacono, Jennifer LoIacono, Frances LoIacono, Anthony LoIacono, Leanna LoIacono, Stephanie Fila, and Samantha Fila; his adored 10 great-grandchildren; his caring brother-in-law, Tom McDermott; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Public Visitation will take place on Wednesday, May 17th from 5-9 pm at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Ave., Denville, NJ 07834. Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, May 18th at 10 am at Norman Dean Home for Services. Services to follow at Locust Hill Cemetery Mausoleum, Dover.
