Marilou Szabo, 59, of Denville, NJ passed away surrounded by family and loved ones on Thursday, April 21, 2016 after a long and courageous fight against colon cancer. Her strong will to live a full life, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family, friends, and many supporters carried her through years of grueling treatments and hospitalizations. Marilou was the second of seven children born to Lourdes and Romulo Ramos, Sr. on October 2, 1956. She graduated from the University of the Philippines Diliman and after marrying husband Gabor, they welcomed their son Stephen. She has worked over the years for various financial and insurance companies as a programmer/analyst. Marilou had remained an active member of the community and was known by family and friends alike for her energetic and compassionate personality. She took great pleasure in long walks, tennis, and volleyball with friends, travelling the world with her husband and family, and contributing to churches in the area. As a member of both Bible Church International and Denville Community Church, Marilou's lively spirit touched many lives. Marilou leaves behind her beloved mother Lourdes Ramos of Denville, NJ; devoted husband Gabor Szabo of Denville; and her son Stephen, his wife Lyssa, and grandson Oliver of Denville. She also leaves six loving brothers and sisters: brothers Redentor, Romulo Jr. and Ruel Ramos in the Philippines; sisters Susan Villarta and her husband Roy of Denville, Maria Theresa Ramos of Toronto, Canada and Maryrose Ramos of Denville, as well as numerous adoring nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father Romulo Ramos. Memorial services honoring Marilou's life will be held Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Denville Community Church, 190 Diamond Spring Road, Denville, NJ 07834 at 1:00 p.m., and Bible Church International, 791 Rt. 10 East, Randolph, NJ 07869 at 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Marilou's honor towards Colon Cancer Alliance at www.ccalliance.org.
