Obituary of Gary J. Kufall
Please share a memory of Gary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Gary J. Kufall, of Rockaway, passed away suddenly at the young age of 65 on Saturday, April 09, 2016. He is now reunited with his son, Brian.
Born and raised in Staten Island, he has been a Rockaway resident for 30 years. He retired in 2012 from Con Edison in Manhattan after 30 years of dedicated service. A proud Navy Veteran, Gary served our country in the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion Post #344, the Knights of Columbus Council #3359, and St. Cecilia’s RC Church in Rockaway. Gary was a TV junkie and he loved to watch sports. His favorite teams were the Giants and the Mets. He also coached for many years in Staten Island, and again when his son was in baseball in Rockaway. Gary also enjoyed spending time with his favorite pup, Happy. He loved to travel all over the world with his soulmate, Karen. Once a year, the Navy veterans would have a reunion vacation which he looked forward to all year long. He loved to visit Disneyworld, and his favorite place he ever went to was Ireland. With all of that being said, the most important thing to him in his life was his family; his grandchildren were especially treasured.
Son of the late John and Mary Kufall, his legacy will continue to live on in the hearts and souls of his beloved wife of 41 years, Karen (nee Mohin); his loving children, the late Brian Kufall (1978) and Kevin Kufall (Nikki); his cherished grandchildren, Alexis, Brian, Theresa, and Brock; his brother, Glenn Kufall; his caring in-laws, Maureen Mohin Ward (Gregory), Jean Mohin Marrocco (Charlie), Michael Mohin (Christine), Patrick Mohin, and Timothy Mohin (Kathleen); and many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends, notably Bettie and Dave.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 13th from 3-7 pm at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Ave., Denville, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, April 14th at St. Cecilia’s RC Church, 70 Church St., Rockaway, NJ. Burial will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Staten Island, NY. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Gary’s memory to American Legion Post 344, 210 Chestnut Terrace, Rockaway, NJ 07866. Please leave a condolence for his family.
