Dorothy A. Schwehm, 85, passed away on Thursday, December 5th with her loving family by her side. Friends and relatives may visit on Sunday, December 8th from 2-6 pm with a funeral service at 5:30 pm at the Norman Dean Home For Services, 16 Righter Ave., Denville. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to The House of The Good Shepherd: Shepherd’s Fund, 798 Willow Grove St., Hackettstown, NJ 07840 or to the Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice, 99 Sparta Avenue, Newton, NJ 07860.
Born in Manhattan, to the late Rudolph and Mildred, Dorothy attended Douglas College in New Brunswick, earning her BA in Journalism. She met and later married Hank Schwehm and the couple raised their family in the Cedar Lake section of Denville. In 1989, she moved to Maine, and later New Hampshire, before coming back to NJ in 2012. She truly was an exceptional homemaker, mother and friend. Dorothy always had a way of making everything magical.
Predeceased by her husband Henry “Hank” Schwehm and her son in law George Yankus;
she is survived by her loving family, Susan Collins (George), Jennifer Williams, Denise Trimmer (William), Terry Yankus, Chip (Kate), and Michelle Ertle (Carl); their sixteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
