just heard the news from vasanti and I am in shock. Avi was among the brightest and the most generous and open-minded person I know. A dear friend since 1980, I will miss him more than I can imagine.

Just heard this sad news about Avi. I remember him fondly as the treasurer of Pack 99. I worked with him closely as I was the one who spent a lot of the Pack's money on badges for the boys. Such a kind and patient man. May he rest in peace.

Avi was an incredible guy. I knew him as a great Dad, and a great husband to Vee. He was one of the most humble people I have ever met. He was so proud of Hershed and Gaurie, yet never bragged about them (but could have very easily.) He always wanted to talk about YOUR kid. My son Sam is a great high school friend of Hershed's, and he remembers Avi as a loving father and a guy he couldn't beat at chess at their kitchen table, but instead learned valuable life lessons around that same table. That comes close, but only close, to summing up Avi. The world is a better palce from Avi having lived in it, and will always be a better place with Avi's spirit in it and all around us.

Our hearts go out to Vasanti, Gaurie, and Hershed in mourning Avi's passing. Avi was a dear friend with a gift of deep wisdom, a brilliant strategic mind, and a gentle fierceness of soul.
