Clifford F. Swanton, 90, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, November 21st. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 25th at 10 am at the Norman Dean Home For Services, 16 Righter Ave., Denville. Interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Westfield. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, November 24th from 12-3 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice of Northern NJ, 350 Sparta Ave, Sparta, NJ 07871.
He loved to fish, loved the shore & loved to tell stories about growing up! Clifford was one of nine children. Growing up, whatever food was put on the table, they ate without question. He would always tell the tale of stealing cookies off of a cookie delivery truck for food. He'd tell his grandchildren, “now, don't you do this!”
He leaves these and many other happy memories to all who knew him.
Predeceased by his wife Jane (Pierson) Swanton; he is survived by his children Anne Swanton Newman (Michael), David (Linda), Barbara Cathcart (Carl), Peter Swanton and Patricia Hughes; his seven grandchildren Amy, Tara, Traci, Charlie, Tim, Katie, and Christie; his great grandson Victor; brother Eugene Swanton (Mary Lou); and many more loving relatives and friends.
