Helen K. Robins, 97, of Denville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 20, 2015, with her loving daughter by her side.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, that is where she met her soulmate and Army solider, Leon. They enjoyed their life together on the go, moving to all different countries before finally settling down in the Lake Arrowhead community in Denville in 1965. Since the young age of 15, Helen had a passion for being a hair stylist. For 43 years, she had a career at Main Profiles, formerly Les Femme, in Denville. Even in her 80’s she would volunteer at St. Clare’s Hospital teaching cancer patients how to syle their wigs. Prior to this, she would go around to Nursing Homes and help the senior citizens do their hair and nails. She was very active in the NJ Cosmetology Association, attending meetings, going to conventions, and even served terms as President and Vice President. She also volunteered with Meals on Wheels. A devout Catholic, she was a member of St. Catherine of Siena R.C. Church in Mountain Lakes for 50 years.
Helen is now reunited with her beloved husband of 63 years, Leon Robins (2004), her son, Lee “Buster” Robins (1991) and his wife Margaret (1999), and her son-in-law Paul (2003). She is survived by her adored daughter, Carol Bliss of Denville; her cherished grandchildren, Louis Bomentre and his wife Daryl Ann of South Plainfield, Anthony Bomentre and his wife Sunnie of South Plainfield, Allison Linares and her husband Chris of Valrico, FL, Jason Shand of Cliffside Park, Kristen Marquette, Adam Robins, and Michael Robins, all of Mill Valley, CA. Helen also leaves behind a very special kitty cat named Samantha.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 23rd, at 11:00 am at St. Catherine of Siena R.C. Church, 10 N. Pocono Rd., Mountain Lakes, NJ 07046. Public visitation will take place on Thursday, October 22nd from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Ave., Denville, NJ 07834.
