Georgia Van De Velde, 84, passed away at her residence on Wednesday July 4, 2012.
Georgia was born in Passaic, and was a longtime resident of Kinnelon, and the last 6 years in Rockaway Borough. Georgia was employed at the Kinnelon High School Cafeteria and became the Cafeteria Manager. She then managed Mountain Lakes Food Program. Georgia later on became the State of New Jersey Food Inspector for Schools and Jails leaving this position at 58 years old, she started Georgia’s Stained Glass Werks. Where today it is located in Rockaway Borough and co-owned and operated by her daughter Bonnie Hook. Georgia was a volunteer for the Tri-Boro First Aid Squad for many years, she also was the Coordinator of the EMT Program at St. Barnabas Medical Center and Mountainside Hospital’s.
Georgia was predeceased by her husband Richard N. in 2008.
Georgia is survived by her daughter Bonnie Hook and her husband Richard, her two sons Ricky and Keith, and her sister Esther Cogan and her husband William.
Georgia’s Funeral will be conducted from Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave., Denville, NJ www.normandean.com, (please light a candle in memory of Georgia on website), on Monday at 9:30am for a 11am service at the St. David Episcopal Church 91 Kinnelon Rd., Kinnelon, NJ interment and committal service at Mount Evergreen Cemetery, Kinnelon, NJ. Relatives and friends will be received on Sunday July 8th at the funeral home from 2-5pm. The family suggests, in lieu of flowers donations to the St. David Episcopal Church would be appreciated.
