Though we were a continent apart, I'm grateful that Maria visited Santa Barbara and we really became friends. Through Jim and her grandchildren I've kept up with her through the years, and I send heartfelt sympathy to those she left behind.

How sweetly I remember the wonderful times I was blessed to spend with Maria. I am so thankful for knowing her and her beautiful spirit, and I cherish every minute we had together when I got to visit in New Jersey with her and Grandpa. She touched everyone's heart and made our lives so lovely. I am so glad she was part of our family. My prayers are with her and with Grandpa, who she made so happy all of their years together.
