30 years ago, I first met "Mom".
When I was 16 in countryside of Japan, Rotary Exchange Summer Programme brought me a chance to visit Denville NJ.
My very first homestay family was Bette&Bill Richars's. I felt fortunate to know such a loving, warm, happy American Family. Since then, I called them "Mom and Dad". Being around them, I felt filled with love.(even though my English was very limited-only fluent word "yes" "no")
This year, I was about to come to spend time with you on May 26. I am so sorry that I could not make it in time. I should have visited you last year when you invited me "why don't you come see me!" on the phone.
Mom, I miss you a lot.

We first met in 1972 & you were a wonderful mother-in-law to me for 30 years! I have memories galore to treasure...you were beautiful at Dana & Tim's wedding. I will miss seeing you in church but will smile every time I ring the handbells knowing how much you loved them! May God enfold you in his love as you did to us.

I will always remember you as a very witty lady who always said what was on your mind. It was always fun to work with you at the DCC Thrift shop. I am glad you were able to spend your last Sundays at the worship service you wanted to be at to hear the choir and bells. You looked beautiful at Dana's wedding and it was a blessing that you were there. You will be missed.

We were so very sad to hear of the loss of Ms. Bette. I had just a few chances to meet her, but was always impressed by her sweet and gracious demeanor. She had very kind eyes and a beautiful smile. I know she will be sorely missed by those who love her the most. We love you, Dana and will be praying for you and your entire family as you lay your grandma to rest.
