Obituary of Evelyn L. Kennedy

Evelyn L. Kennedy (Stone) passed away on April 4, 2012 at Morris View Nursing Home in Morris View Nursing Home in Morris Twp., N.J. She was 97 years old.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, she moved to the Indian Lake section of Denville, NJ in 1951, where she lived and raised her family until she relocated to Franciscan Oaks in 1997. Her husband John C. (Jack) Kennedy passed away in 1969.
Evelyn owned and operated Classics, a women's apparel store on Broadway in Denville for 15 years. Before that, she worked for over a decade in the Anne Wayne Shoppe there until it closed in 1975.
After retiring Evelyn convened and ran for years what became the Fransiscan Oaks Kazoo Band, giving musical performances at area nursing homes and even at the Sussex County Fair one year. Evelyn was long active in the American Legion Post 390 Women's Auxiliary, and for years she volunteered at the Saint Clare's Barn Thrift Shop. She was a member of the Denville United Methodist Church.
Evelyn is survived by her sons and their wives: William & Camille Kennedy of Washington Crossing, PA, John D & Susan Kennedy of Iron Station, NC, and Brad & Barbara Kennedy of Roxbury, NJ. She is also survived by her 7 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Memorial visitation will be held at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Ave., Denville, NJ 07834 on Friday April 20, 2012 from 5-9 PM. A memorial service will be held at 9:30 AM on April 21, 2012.
