Obituary of Berger Frostad

Berger Frostad, 92, died on Sunday Feb. 12, 2012 at his home in the Lake Telemark section of Rockaway, NJ.
He was born and raised in Haugesund, Norway and moved to Brooklyn, NY in 1930. He and his wife Hannah A. (Johannsen) summered in the Lake Telemark section of Rockaway, and in 1955 they moved into the house he had built.
Berger worked as a supervisor for the Bushey Ship Yards in Brooklyn where he helped to built ship for the US Navy during WWII. Later he went to work fishing for Richard Vance Fishing Company also in Brooklyn.
After moving to Telemark he worked as a cabinet builder and worked for Seldai Cabinets in Denville and finally he went to work as a carpenter and had worked for Olaf Vedick in Rockaway for many years and was a 57 year member of the Carpenter's Local Union #254 before retiring in 1984.
In the early 1950's he served as a special police officer in Rockaway. He was a past member of the Rockaway Fire Dept. Hibernia Company #1, as well as a member of the Sons of Norway Nor-Bu Lodge, and Holy Trinity Lutheran Church all in Rockaway, NJ.
