Madeline E. DiMartino, 90,quietly passed away Tuesday, October 1st at 5:30 am in East Stroudsburg, PA. She had been suffering from the results of a major stroke and fought valiantly through relentless pain. She was born July 26, 1923 in Kearny, NJ to Mary and Walter Eaves of Dutch and English heritage. She graduated from Kearny High School with the highest of honors and went to Pace Institute at night to be an accountant while working full time at Pan American. Madeline later was hired at a prestigious law firm in New York City, Sullivan and Cromwell, with tremendous responsibilities. She married her high school sweetheart, George G. Di Martino, on March 27, 1948 in North Arlington, NJ, witnessed by her sister. She was a great daughter, a devoted wife, a wonderful mother, grandmother and sister as well as a friend to many. She was a truly beautiful woman who worked very hard her whole life and for her family. Madeline always strove to be at her best. She loved her dachshunds and they loved her. She enjoyed nature, travel, our vacations to Long Beach Island, diving into the ocean, our house in Maine at Lake Damarascota, art, bowling, music and enjoyed learning about oceanography and cosmology. She loved to play the piano and was a church organist for many years. She loved to laugh and had a good sense of humor. She was active in the Historical Society and Lions Club. Madeline was predeceased by her husband, George DiMartino. She is survived by her daughter Diane DiMartino, who loves her very much, as well as her three grandchildren Anjelika, Zeke and Anna and her sister Dorthea M. Schiller. Her viewing will take place at Norman Dean Home For Services, 16 Righter Ave., Denville, NJ on Friday, October 4th starting at 11:30 am with a funeral service beginning at 1:30 pm. Interment to follow at Restland Memorial Park, East Hanover. Madeline will always be dearly loved by her family and friends and she will be sorely missed. May she rest always in peace.
