Obituary of Christopher N. Vukas

Mr. Christopher Nicholas (Kristo Nicolo) Vukas, 90, of Denville, NJ passed away peacefully on December 12, 2011. He was born in New York City and raised on Willow Terrace in Hoboken, NJ. He lived on Webster Avenue in Jersey City for over 50 years before moving to Denville in 1998.
He was a laborer spending most of his working years at Standard Brands in Hoboken, NJ and St. Joseph's Home for the Blind in Jersey City, NJ. He served in the U.S. Army as a military policeman (MP) during World War II, stationed in the Philippines and New Guinea.
His wife of 61 years, Mary, died in 2009.
He is survived by his beloved children; Robert Vukas, wife Hyeran, children Michael and Susan of River Vale; Joanne Crowley, husband Tim of Denville; and Christopher, wife Ginger, children Chris and Sara of Randolph. He is also survived by his brother, John Vukas and sister, Catherine Lukin of Moosup, CT.
Christopher will be laid to rest at 10:30 AM on Friday, December 16, 2011 at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 225 Ridgedale Avenue, East Hanover, NJ.
Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, December 15, 2011 from 2 - 4 PM and from 7 - 9 PM at Norman Dean Home for Funerals ( www.normandean.com).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, Memphis, TN.
