She was born in Long Valley, NJ on August 3, 1928. Izetta, named by her Uncle Issaac, was the only child of Charles Laureman Rockefeller and Mary Elizabeth Ader Rockefeller. She was the wife of the late Wesley Wendt. Mrs. Wendt lived in Denville all of her life in the family home. She attended the Union Hill School for the first eight grades and then went on to graduate from Dover High School. Mrs. Wendt often rode her bicycle to the High School with her rifle over her shoulder in order to attend the school’s Rifle Club. Izetta worked at McGregors in Dover for many years and then as a teacher aide at Lakeview School in Denville for 11 years. Izetta and her best friend Annie Poulas enjoyed many summers at Laural Lake in Denville. She loved the outdoors, drawing, and making her beautiful cakes. Izetta decorated the front of her house for every seasonal event; Christmas, Easter and Halloween contained some of her best decorations. Her unique decorations drew many people to view her house. Mrs. Wendt is predeceased by her husband Wesley, and her son, Guy Wendt. She leaves a son, Kirk Wendt and a grandson Guy Charles Wendt, Jr. both of Denville. Relatives and friends will be received at Grace Methodist Church 96 North Sussex Street, Dover, NJ on Friday Sept. 9th from 9am to time of services at 10:30am.
