Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Avenue Denville, NJ 07834 973-627-1880 Allan Donald Morse Beloved Son, Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-grandfather and Friend Allan Donald Morse passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2011, at home in East Hanover, NJ after a living a long life filled with love. He was 90 years old. He was born in Watertown, MA on July 31, 1921 to Alice May Leighton and Wendall Irving Morse. His younger sister Marjorie Morse Baker and brother Paul Morse predecease him. Allan spent his childhood in several towns near Boston and in Cape Ann. However, he always considered Rockport his home. Allan graduated from Brighton High School (MA) in 1939, where he was lead pitcher of the varsity baseball team. Following the attack on Pearl Harbor Allan joined the Navy and served on many ships throughout WWII. He met the love of her life, Helen Mary Papp at the Acadia Ball Room in Manhatten while he was on shore leave and they married on July 28, 1945. They settled in Parsippany where they raised their two children. Allan worked as parts manager at Proctor Pontiac in Dover in the 1950s and was a member of the Masons. He later worked at Scerbo Pontiac in Parsippany for 25 year. Once retired, he and Helen spent 27 years between their residences in Parsippany and Stuart, FL Allan was a devoted husband, father, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend and has left memories of his passion for baseball “Let’s Go Mets!”, his jokes, and love of family and friends. He loved baseball, golf, travel, his dogs, ice cream, partying with friends and laughter. He was a good, kind man who lived life well and will leave behind a legacy of love, kindness and joy in the hearts of all who had the honor of knowing him. Survivors include his devoted son Craig Morse of East Hanover; his loving daughter Deborah and her husband Joseph Scala of Mt.Tabor; his grandson Kevin Morse and his wife Josephine of Succasunna; his granddaughters, Sarah Scala of Denville and Cynthia Scala of Mt. Tabor, great-grandson Anthony Joseph Morse and his loving niece Sandra Hull Sbaldigi. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Allan’s caregiver Eunice for her love, caring and friendship. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 17th, 11 AM at the United Methodist Church at Mt Tabor, 5 Simpson Avenue, Mt. Tabor, NJ.
