Obituary of Catherine Mae Kubly

Catherine "Kay" M. Kubly passed away at Kindred Hospital in Dover, NJ on August 19, 2011. She was 87 years old.
Catherine was born to George & Elizabeth Ranco in Old Town, ME in 1924, joining her sister Bertha. She grew up in Maine and graduated from Old Town High School.
She attended nursing school at St. Joseph's College at Mercy Hospital in Portland, ME, graduating in 1945. She had a long career as a Registered Nurse, working at hospitals in ME, MA, NY and NJ. She worked for the Red Cross, in emergency and operating rooms, and finished her career doing private duty.
She met Rudolph Kubly and they married in 1952 in Lynn, MA. Catherine & Rudolph moved to Dobbs Ferry, NY where her son George Theodore was born. In 1966 Catherine and family moved to Denville, NJ where she lived ever since.
Catherine retired in 1991 and was an active senior citizen. She belonged to the Mountain Lakes YMCA and the Denville Seniors enjoying their field trips. She played bingo at St. Mary's, volunteered at St. Claire's Harvest Festival for 14 years and visited her sister in Florida often. She enjoyed her many friends and was always there for them.
In early 2011 Catherine was diagnosed with a serious condition requiring major surgery. Sadly, it was a lot to handle at her age and after many months she lost her long struggle with her son at her side.
Catherine survived her husband Rudolph (Rudy) in 1972, her sister Bertha (Beth) in 2001 and many relatives and friends. She is survived by her beloved son, George (Ted) Kubly.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday August 27, 2011 at 10am at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Ave., Denville, NJ 07834. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9pm.
