Obituary of Dr. A. William Thomas

Dr. A. William Thomas passed away at St. Clare's Hospital in Denville, NJ on February 21, 2011, surrounded by his loving family. He was 74 years old. Born in Oceanside, NY, he had lived in Denville for 45 years. Bill attended St. John's University and Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. He practiced as a family doctor in Morris County for 45 years. He was co-founder of Skylands Medical Group. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed fly fishing and traveling. He also loved spending time with his family, especially his cherished grandchildren. Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Ginnie (Hess) Thomas of Denville, NJ, his children Brian & Kimberlee Thomas of Terra Ceia, FL, Stephen and Fran Thomas of Yardley, PA and Robert and Catherine (Thomas) Shafts of Jamestown, RI, his sisters are Betty & Edward (deceased) Walsh of NY, Elaine and Peter Corwin of NY, Carole Thomas of NY and Jane and Bruce Bleser of AR, his grandchildren Ally, Tyler, Jack, Lily, Avery and Finn and many nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Joanne. Friends and family may visit on Thursday from 6:00-8:30 PM at Norman Dean Funeral Home in Denville, NJ. Funeral services will begin at 11AM on Friday February 25, 2011 with a Mass at St. Catherine's Church in Mountain Lakes. Committal and Interment services will be private.
