Obituary of Thomas J. Tomski

Thomas J. Tomski Age:68 Wharton Thomas J. Tomski passed away on January 8, 2011 at Dover General Hospital. He was born & raised in Bayonne, graduating from Bayonne HS. Upon graduation, he served in the US Navy. Thomas worked for Lucent Technologies, formerly Western Electric & AT&T for 43 years. He happily retired in February 2005 to spend more time with his family and watch his grandchildren grow. He took such wonderful care of his Father, as he fell ill in 2006. Tom spent every day making sure his Father was well taken care of and comfortable. Thomas was involved in many organizations including the Wharton Fraternal Order of Police, Wharton American Legion, Masonic Temple-Jephthah Lodge, and was a dedicated Union Representative for the CWA Local 1090 and Alliance Association. Mr. T was always smiling and was a very generous man. He always had time to stop and talk to you. He had a kind word for everyone and all his grandchildren's friends knew that Pop-Pop Tomski had candy in his pocket. The kids would come to him for candy and he treated every child like they were his own. Thomas loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He loved taking his "little buddy" Ryan to the hunting lodge to share his love of hunting with him. He was so proud of his athletic abilities, attending every game his grandchildren were involved in. Olivia was his little beauty and he was always so proud of her beautiful voice and sports skills. His "little baby" Mackenzie was his partner every day. Pop-Pop got her ready for school each morning and made sure she looked pretty. His precious angel Vincent just learned how to say Pop-Pop. They both lit up when they saw each other and Pop-Pop loved holding and cuddling with him. He was predeceased by his brother Robert Tomski, and parents John and Anne Tomski. He is survived by his wonderful, loving wife of 43 years, Penelope (Bennett) of Wharton, his devoted daughters Nancy and her husband Albert Kaiser of Green Township, and Rebecca and her husband Vincent Russo of Verona. Pop-Pop cherished every moment he spent with his adoring grandchildren Ryan, Olivia, Mackenzie & Vincent. Several cousins, nieces, nephews and a sister survive. His friends always took time to call him and he just was such a presence wherever he went. We are all so lucky to have spent so many special times together.
