Ellen Page Wilson, noted photographer dies at age 54 Ellen Page Wilson, noted photographer and owner of Ellen Page Wilson Photography in Chelsea, New York, died Sunday morning September 26, 2010 surrounded by her family and loved ones. Ellen, the daughter of Page Hedden Wilson of Westport, Connecticut and Ian Holroyde Wilson of San Rafael, California, was born on January 2, 1956. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her son, Willem DeVos and former husband Fred DeVos of Brooklyn New York; her companion Joe Famiglietti of New York City; and her 4 sisters and their families: Rebecca Wilson Armstrong and her husband John of Weston CT. and their children, Ian and Anne; Dorothy Swain Wilson and her husband George Ostasiewicz of Norwalk, CT. and their children Alexandra, Sarah and Peter; Holly Wilson Luce and her husband Jim of Denville, New Jersey and their children Emily, Jim, Megan and Peter; and Dr. Alix Wilson and her husband Terry Dawson of Austin, Texas and their children Fiona and Liam. Ellen graduated from Staples High School in Westport, CT as part of the Class of 1974, attended Connecticut College and graduated from the University of Michigan in 1978 with a Bachelors of Arts degree Ellen was widely recognized in the NYC art world for her photography talent. In the words of a colleague John Minchillo: "In a city swelling with talent, Ellen Page Wilson rises above the fray with a reputation built on integrity and leadership." She began her career photographing artwork in 1985 and rose to senior photographer at a major gallery prior to launching Ellen Page Wilson Photography. Throughout, Ellen maintained her reputation as a gifted professional in the photography of works of art and artists. She adeptly captured legends Chuck Close, Eric Fischl and Claes Oldenburg and traversed the globe covering the Venice Biennale, Basel Art Fair, Frieze Art Fair and Miami Basel with a blend of technical prowess and sensitivity to the artist and their vision. Ellen's work was published in the New York Times, ArtWorld and a variety of professional journals and art galleries in New York City and throughout the country. Ellen's family would like to thank all of the friends who visited and shared memories over the last few weeks as well as Ellen's doctors and caregivers including Dr. Vondouris, Dr. David Reardon at the Duke University Medical Center and Dr. Deborah Gruber and Dr. John Golfinos at NYU Medical Center. A Memorial Service will be held on a Saturday in October in New York City. Notice will be posted at ellenpagewilson.com.
