Emmett D. Newton Jr. “Whitey”, 92, passed away on Monday July 29, 2013 at his home. Whitey was born in Patchogue, Long Island, NY and was a longtime resident of Denville, NJ. He was a Coast Guard Veteran served during WW II. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign wars in Whippany, and the American Legion Post in Denville. He was employed as a Building Inspector for Fairfield Township and retired in 1991 and had previously worked for numerous engineering firms and towns thru out New Jersey. He was a member of the Mason’s for over 50 years and a Past Master of the Morristown #188/Cincinnati #3 and R.W. Grand Tyler (2012), he was the Tyler for 45 years at Cincinnati #3. Whitey was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth, “Bette”, and his Daughter Beverley Forrest and his brother Wilbur Newton. He is survived by his daughter Gale Newton and her husband Jim Smith, and his son, Emmett D. Newton III “Skip” and his wife Renee, and his four grandchildren, Tonya and Carolyn, Brent and Dylan.
