Ferdinand G. "Ferd" Kaiser, of New Providence, NJ died on Wednesday Feb. 24, 2010 at King James Nursing Center in Chatham, NJ.
Ferd was born in Newark and grew up in Lake Hiawatha section of Parsippany, and moved to New Providence, NJ forty years ago.
After graduating from Boonton High School he served with the 1100th security squadron as an Honor Guard with the Ceremonial Squad in Washington, DC. Later he served in Korea with the US Air Force. He attended George Washington University, and later American Academy of Mortuary Science in New York City.
He was a funeral director with Haeberle & Barth Funeral Home and served as manager of Smith & Smith Funeral Home in Springfield, NJ.
His memberships included the VFW Post #190 in New Providence, past member of the Kiwanis Club of Millburn / Springfield where he had served as Treasurer. He was also a member of the National Rifle Assoc.
Beloved husband and best friend of M. Diane Kaiser. Proud and loving father and grandfather of his daughter Kathleen J., her husband Brian Heinbaugh, their children Maggie and Miller of Greenville, SC and his son Brent C., his wife Lynn (Laudati) Kaiser and their children David, Michael, Patrick, and Christopher of Denville, NJ.
Dear brother of Erma L. and her husband Joseph Riccardi of Parsippany, NJ and Dr. Joan E. Kaiser and her husband Donald Hitt of Poughkeepsie, NY. Also survived by his sister in law Kathleen and her husband Dale Penwell of Chambersburg, PA and his brother in law Charles and his wife Carol (Santoro) Patrick of Whippany, NJ.
Also survived by many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday March 1, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave. Denville, NJ www.normandean.com. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Please share a memory by lighting a candle on our web site.
