Joan Hepper, age 78, of Denville passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 19, at St. Clare’s Hospital. She was born the daughter of Page Powell and Dorothy Stilwell Powell in Bayonne, New Jersey, in 1930 and moved to Denville in 1932. She graduated from Mountain Lakes High School in 1948.
Over her many years in Denville, Joan was involved in a variety of civic organizations and for the past several years was a devoted member of the Not So Great Book Club held at the Denville Library, pursuing her favorite pleasure of reading.
Joan is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Richard Hepper, and her two sisters, Audrey Packer of Denville and Gloria Schaefer of Muncey, PA. She is also survived by her daughter, Nancy Winebrenner of Nanticoke, MD, and her son, Raymond Hepper of Longmeadow, MA, and her three grandsons, Matthew Winebrenner and Greg and Michael Hepper.
Mrs. Hepper’s funeral service will be conducted from Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave., Denville, NJ, www.normandean.com, (please light a candle in memory of Joan on web site), on Monday November 23rd at 9am for a 10am service at Denville Community Church United Methodist 190 Diamond Spring Road, Denville, NJ. Interment at Denville Cemetery. Relatives and friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday November 22nd from 2-5pm. Donations maybe made to the American Heart Association.
