Richard Boyd “Dick/Rich” Collins, 84, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2012 at Franciscan Oaks Health Center. Dick was predeceased by his loving wife, Elizabeth “Liz” in April 2010. He was born April 5, 1928 in New York, NY and moved to Pequannock, NJ as a young boy. He and his wife moved to Denville in 1957 and to Franciscan Oaks in 2008.
Richard received both his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Stevens Institute of Technology. He devoted his entire career to Mechanical Engineering, working primarily with the aerospace and submarine programs. His early career was with Reaction Motors. Richard then worked for Marotta Scientific Controls, Inc. for more than 30 years, retiring as VP of Engineering.
Richard served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was an avid gardener. He was active in the Reaction Motors Alumni Association. With his family, he was a member of The Church of the Saviour, Denville.
He leaves behind daughters Cathy (& Bill) Jensen and Diane (& Franco) Meza, all of Denville. He also leaves his two grandchildren, Andrea Jensen and Blake Meza.

Funeral services will be held on Sat. Sept. 1, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave. Denville, NJ www.normandean.com. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday from 11:00 AM until time of services.
