Bill “Coach”DiIorio, 83, passed away on Thursday October 29, 2009 at his home in Rockaway Township, NJ.
He is survived by his wife of 55 Years, Ann Mae (Nee Warren), a son, W. Mark DiIorio and his wife Kathy of Glen Rock, his daughters, Jean Marie Donahue and her husband Kevin of Sparta, Amy Mays and her husband Donald of Virginia Beach, VA, and Elizabeth Dowd and her husband Michael of Washington Twp., his sister Anne Cesario and his brother Gino DiIorio both of Providence, RI. He was the loving and devoted grandfather to seven grandchildren, Bill, Mark, Jack Donahue, Don, Rachael, and Arielle Mays, and Joseph Dowd.
Bill was born and raised in Providence, RI and was the son of the late Andrew and Genevieve DiIorio. He was formerly a resident of Wyckoff and Randolph, residing the last 8 years in Rockaway Township.
Bill was a nose-gunner on the B-24 during World War II and was awarded Wings of an Arial Gunner. He was a graduate of the University of Rhode Island, Baruch College, and Pace University. He retired as the Corporate Tax Director at Olin-Hunt. He currently has a private practice as a Tax Practitioner. Bill was a charter member of the NJ Chapter of Tax Executives Institute, an IRS Enrolled Agent, a member of the American Legion Post 145 Glen Rock and American Legion Post 344 of Rockaway.
The funeral will be conducted from Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Ave., Denville, NJ, www.normandean.com. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Bernard’s Church, Rockaway Township at 11:00am on Thursday, November 5th. Relatives and friends will be received on Wednesday November 4th at the funeral home from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Please, in lieu of flowers donations to Bill’s memory can be made to your local Little League or the Boy Scouts of American.
