This is very sad, I just heard this news today. I worked with Ray for six years doing the football Game of the Week on WNNJ (I was the play-by-play man before Joel Konya). He was always enthusiastic, always could be counted on for a joke. He and Audrey would come to the games together, and when she could no longer make it, he would always keep us up to date on her health. Best wishes to Ray's family, I will surely miss him.

My fondest memories of Ray are from my visits with my Grandmother, Mary Lou Craft in West Palm Beach, FL. It was there that I met Ray and Audrey when I very very young. Ray would always pick me up from the airport with my Grandmother; he was “my chauffeur”. That is just one example of some of the wonderful things he did for Mary Lou. I loved his stories about his restaurant and broadcasting days. And if he wasn’t golfing, he was doing something nice for someone. I will miss him tremendously. May he rest with God in Peace.

The "Coach" is what I always called Ray. We broadcast together the SCIL High School Football Game of the Week on 1360 WNNJ-AM for 8 years. Ray was so passionate about high school football and especially the kids. He knew those schools and players like the back of his hand and took pride in broadcsting those games. I know it was his passion. Ray would call me frequently to give me an update on the teams even after we no longer did the broadcasts. He would also give me updates on his beloved wife Audrey. Ray was one of the most sincere people I ever knew. Mike Barker and myself always had a blast in the broadcast booth with the "Coach". I thoroughly enjoyed working with him and getting to know him. It was an honor "Coach". God Bless Ray. You will always have a special place in my life. The "Coach" Ray Sabia will be thoroughly missed.

Always like a second Dad to me, your love and generousity
was there fall all to see.
The fun times we shared over all these years, will long be remembered beyond the tears. You cared for us like we were your own, you shared your love of life and always let that be known. Although you may have passed to the good life they say, you will surely never be forgotten, my beloved Uncle Ray.

Ray was bigger than life with a great smile and laugh.
We knew him through our neighbors, Peter and Laurie. He was like family to them and it was obvious to all around them that there was much love and respect both for and from Uncle Ray. When we moved away we missed his visits to the Hettel's. All our sympathy to his family and friends. Lee Anne and Thomas Hamilton
