I have read all the lovely things written about Mike. But one thing I haven't seen was what it was like when he was on the Denville Police force back in the day. Back then it was classic, and if you were lucky enough to get wind he was on his way, it was "Run, DiPalma is coming!" and you hightailed it as best you could. You just didn't want to be there. I personally wasn't a hoodlum but I knew many who were and there was a definite respect and reverance for the man. You know back then, it was a different world. He commanded respect and didn't put up with alot of nonsense but if you did right by him, he did right by you. I read here happily where he transitioned into a very mellow, generous and kind lifestyle. Fishing, helping his fellow mankind and boy did he deserve it after all he went thru back then after putting up with years of nonsense. Such a shame his shining star Lisa was called before him. But he contributed so much on so many levels for so long and in so many ways, well God Bless him. I'll always remember "DiPalma"

Mike lived across the street from Williamson's Grocery,a store my Father,Ron owned before he passed away in 2002. A lot of "Teasing" went on between the two of them and Mike was always a good sport.I know my Father would be sad to hear of Mike's passing and would want me to send his sympathies to Mike's family and friend. Mike will be missed by so many people.

You are going to be missed by many people, not the least of all us. Your passing is a great loss and I will miss my friend. I go over in my mind all the good times we shared. Especially Lake George fishing and the times in NJ we would sneak into Split Rock Reservoir at night with me hanging on the back of your motorcycle, holding the fishing gear. And dispite the fact it was your job to keep others away, we kept to ourselves the best duck hunting spots in Denville. Mike, life's journey isn't going to be the same now without you. Give Lisa a hug and a kiss from us.

Very sorry to hear of Mike's passing. Mike, we had great times on the midnight shifts talking about salmon fishing and will never forget when you brought me a lunker at HQ when I was doing taxidermy and we proceeded to work on it in the kitchen. Many fond memories of our late night cooking episodes at MPLD HQ. RIP brother.

My favorite memories of Uncle Mike include those of our visits to Grandma's house in Denville. Upon our arrival, my sister and brothers and I would beg him to show us the ghosts in the attic. So we'd all tromp up the narrow stairway and creep into the attic where he would make noises to scare us into thinking the ghosts were after us. Screaming, we'd run back down the stairs.
He was a good person and I will always be sad that I was not able to visit him and Lisa after I grew up and started my own family. He will be missed by all.

Mike was one of those very rare people you find along life's path. He always had a kind word to say about everyone. Our association with Mike was as a fellow NYS Licensed Guide. His humor and sincerity was always present in all he did. The love he had for his Lake George was shadowed only by his love for daughter Lisa. Mike I know you are resting in Heaven with Lisa at your side after life's long journey.... Good Fishing My Friend....

I had the pleasure of meeting Mike when he opened his home to myself and my daughter when there was an overflow of people already staying at my sister's house for a family graduation. Mike offered his home so that we wouldn't have to stay at a costly hotel in the village and could be in close proximity to my sister's residence. He was a very giving, kind, and generous person.
