My mom, dad and I last visited with Cora over the holidays. She was always much fun to have as a house guest. I had tried making my grandmother's deep fried, rolled Christmas cookies (from recipes that involved measuring with egg shells). Cora was quick to add her special advice as to how to get those cookies to come out just right - like Grandma's.
Well, I never had the chance to make some for her to try, but I am sure she'll be looking over my shoulder when I do.

I'll follow my oldest friend in the world Kerry's sentiment. I grew up with John and spent many many great times in the basement of Mrs. Heeb's gorgeous house in Denville. It was truly a spectacular home. Most of my happy childhood memories were spent there....taking the shortcut thru the woods from Whitman Drive. She was a lovely woman. God Bless Mrs. Heeb.

As kids we were neighbors to Cora and Al on Whitman Drive, and I was friends with John. I had no idea she and Al had such a large family, I guess John's relatively younger age, precluded much discussion about that. My condolences to the family. I remember Mrs. Hebs (as we called her) smile when ever we "hung out" downstairs.

Marion Brandler Gross posted a condolence

My maternal grandfather and Cora's husband Alfred's mother were brother and sister. Grandpa was Frank Schweighardt.
My mother was Mary Brandler who died in 2001 at 85 and my father, Frank Brandler died in 2006 at 94 yrs.
Somewhere along the way we lost contact with Cora and Alfred. My sister, Fran DeWitt had an address in Massachusetts and sent info on our parents death to that address.
Our deepest sympathy to the family on her loss.
